Materials, Dimensions & Sizing

MATERIALS:
Sewn from high quality fabric, my materials include stretchy polyester, nylon, and spandex blends.

DIMENSIONS:
They measure approx. 6.5" to 7.5" high and 8.5"-9.5" wide at their base, depending on the size.  The gaiter hook may be slipped beneath the shoelace closest to the toe or whichever ace works best for your shoe-style and the gaiter's length.

SIZING:
Determined by your ankle's circumference (measured just above ankle bone) and your shoe size. This information helps me fine-tune the fit personally for you. Most customers fit into one of these two categories. The ankle fit is the more important measurement than the shoe size/length.
  • Size Alligator comfortably fits ankle circumferences between 7.5 to 9 inches. Shoe sizes approximately W 7 to 10 & M 5 to 8.
    • Size Bait comfortably fits ankle circumferences between 8.5 to 10 inches. Shoe sizes from M 9 to 13 & W 10 to 11.

    What Are Gator-Bait Gaiters?

    Gator-Bait Gaiters:
    Gator-Bait Gaiters are stretchy covers worn over shoes & laces to prevent unwelcome "hitchhikers"—like pebbles, dirt, debris, & insects—from entering your shoes.
    • Versatile for all seasons and in many weather conditions however they are NOT waterproof;
    • Not just for trail runners!
      They are for folks who want to block the stuff, which interferes with comfort and being on the move, from entering their shoes. They are for outdoor enthusiasts, fitness & dog walkers, cyclists, and road & trail runners of all abilities.

    • Are suited for sneakers & shoes that lace with a closed-back heel. They work over most trail shoes but NOT heavy-duty hiking boots. They are YakTrax & Kahtoola compatible.

      • Worn with shorts, pants, running skirts, & capris;
      • Are UNISEX, fashionable & practical. Choose from a variety of fabrics—prints and solids. Make a statement.
      • Help protect against poison ivy and deter ticks from working their way into your shoes & laces. For added protection from insects & bites, spray the fabric with a bug repellent. Remember to always check for ticks (that can carry Lyme Disease) after being outdoors.

        How to Wear Gator-Bait Gaiters

        One-Time Preparation:

        Cut two 1½-inch strips of sticky-back Velcro. Attach one piece to the—clean & dry, smooth & centered—heel section of the shoe. Repeat with other shoe.

        Sporting:
        Put on your sock & THEN gently slip the gaiter over your sock and heel. Get into your sneakers & lace up.

        Position the gaiter & fasten the metal hook under the lace(s) closest to toe box. Two different lace configurations are illustrated.

        Pull the back of the gaiter over the shoe’s heel and align Velcro pieces for secure attachment. Adjust the gaiter over the top of the shoe & laces.

        Fit:
        Gator-Bait Gaiters are lightweight, non-bulky and cool. They are different than mountaineering gaiters; expect a looser & comfortable fit around your ankles.

        Care:
        For best results (& maximum TLC) hand wash after each (muddy) outing or when soiled. Use a mild detergent always air dry to preserve the elasticity of the fabric. Or, machine wash using a zipping laundry bag to avoid possible snagging, hang to dry.
